After your service you will need to correctly inflate your suspension fork or shock and reset your rebound and compression settings.
It is common for suspension settings to change after a service to reflect the improved performance of your suspension component, so we recommend carrying out the following set up procedure after you have received your fork or shock back from servicing.
Sag is the portion of your suspension travel that is used by the rider's body weight. Ensuring that you have the correct sag is the first step to ensuring your suspension shock or fork will perform correctly.
Sag is typically measured as a percentage of the overall suspension travel. For example if 40mm of suspension travel is used when the rider stands on the bike and the bike has 120mm of suspension travel, the Sag measurement is 30%.
Too much Sag: Can cause the bike to use too much travel too quickly and can make the bike feel vague, bouncy and sluggish when pedalling and can cause harsh bottoming out under large compressions and even damage to the frame or suspension components.
Too little Sag: Can make the bike feel overly stiff, unforgiving and harsh over bumps and compression. Running your suspension too hard can also compromise on grip and prevent you from utilising all of your bike's suspension travel.
